So the other day I was talking to my sister about some recipe she had tried out. The sauce (can’t remember its name) was something I’d never heard of so I naturally looked it up on wikipedia. A few Wiki-links later and I was on the page for Limburger Cheese. Of particular interest in this entry: “In 2006 a study showing that the malaria mosquito (Anopheles gambiae) is attracted equally to the smell of Limburger cheese and to the smell of human feet”. I never knew that mosquitoes were particularly attracted to the smell of feet. This random tidbit I tucked away in my subconscious…
Incidentally, I participated in an ultimate tourney this weekend and came back home with some rather malodorous cleats which I set out on the porch to dry. A couple of hours later, I walked outside and noticed a swarm of mosquitoes circling my cleats! Imagine my glee when I suddenly remembered the fact I had so recently learned. I can only hope you’re as excited about this confirmation of science as I am.
