Get Smart

March 3rd, 2008 · 4 Comments

Is anyone else as excited as I am about a movie version of the hit television series circa 1965? What’s that, you didn’t watch “Get Smart” reruns on Nick at Nite? You never saw Max talk into his shoe or confer with the Chief under the Cone of Silence?

Silly Max.

I’m pretty sure they don’t show reruns on Nick at Nite anymore (or if Nick at Nite even exists still) but do not fret; the new movie version is set to come out on June 20th. The mere fact that they’re recreating one of my beloved childhood shows would usually be enough, but my enthusiasm was definitely stoked when I saw the cast. First off, Agent Maxwell Smart is played by Steve Carell…awesome. Anne Hathaway plays 99…seems like a good choice. Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock) plays a supporting role as Agent 23. The all-important Chief is played by Alan Arkin…perfect casting there. And none other than Bill Murray makes an appearance as Agent 13. With that kind of star power I don’t see how it can’t be good.

i think you had a typo in that last sentence. you must have meant to say “with this kind of star power, i don’t see how it can be good!”

You would think a Louis Lamour lover would be able to appreciate some good campy humor every once in a while, but apparently not.
